Planting Asparagus:
Asparagus is easy to grow and will provide succulent stalks for many years.
Asparagus enjoys well drained soil. Set rows 90cm / 36″ apart and plant 50cm / 18″ apart. Crown of the plant should be 15cm / 6″ below the ground, with roots spread out. Fill in only 4-5cm / 1.5-2″ over the crown, leaving a slight depression and water thoroughly. As the plant grows sufficiently fill in the depression with soil.
Cut asparagus by running knife just below ground level, about the crown. It is best not to cut until the second year. Stop cutting sometime in June.
