Don't throw out those spent Amaryllis bulbs! When the flowers are finished completely, cut the stalks at the base and let it die back to the ground (may take a few months). At this point remove the bulb from the soil clean it up, trim the roots and store it somewhere cool and dry for the summer. Plant again somewhere in the middle of November and it should prove successful for the next Christmas season.
